Chevrolet Corvette 1968
[:pl]Rynek aut zabytkowych jest bardzo specyficzny z kilku powodów. Ciekawe auta, ciekawi ludzie i ciekawe historie. Auta same w sobie są wystarczającym argumentem, ale ich właściciele i ich historie bardzo często dodają całemu biznesowi dodatkowego smaczku. Tym razem dobrego smaku nie brakowało. Poleciałem przeprowadzić inspekcję ładnej Corvette z 1968 roku z dużym silnikiem big block 427.
W 1968 roku Chevrolet, widząc poczynania konkurencji, postanowił odświeżyć klasyczną Corvette i nadać jej bardziej „muskularnego” wyglądu. Projektanci z koncernu GM wydłużyli C3 o 185mm i zwężyli zaledwie o 12 mm. Oprócz nadwozia zmianie uległo również wnętrze, w którym większość zegarów przeniesiono z głównego kokpitu za kierownicą, na środkową konsolę. Niezmieniona została natomiast gama silników. Największym pozostał 427ci (7l), który występował w kilku konfiguracjach. Corvette, którą oglądaliśmy generowała moc 390 kM!
Przed wylotem wykonałem kilka rozmów telefonicznych ze sprzedającym, wypytując o detale auta, sprawdzając numery itp. Ken okazał się bardzo pomocny i wykazał się dużą wiedzą, Kiedy dojechałem na miejsce i otworzył mi drzwi salonu, wiedziałem, że to będzie ciekawy dzień i że na Corvette się nie skończy.
Wiele z salonów obwieszonych jest zbyt dużą ilośćią znaków, tablic rejestracyjnych, banerów itp. Tu było inaczej, było ich kilka, ale w sam raz by nadać całemu miejscu dobrego smaku, zachwując ład i pożądek.
Po szczegółowej inspekcji, ponownym sprawdzeniu numerów i przejrzeniu dokumentacji wybraliśmy się na „test drive”, ze zdjętym dachem oczywiście. Corvette prowadziła się znakomicie. Mocy pod dostatkiem, a Ken nie wahał się jej użyć. Tutaj krótki filmik:
Po powrocie wykonałem szybki telefon do nowego właściciela z dokładnym opisem auta oraz stanu technicznego i byliśmy gotowi do negocjacji. Zanim jednak zdążyłem zacząć, Ken zapytał mnie który z pozostałych samochodów podoba mi się najbardziej. Wybrałem czarnego restomoda Camaro
– Zabierzmy go więc na przejażdżkę, jeśli masz na to czas?
– Na przejażdżkę Camaro? Zawsze!
Ken wyprowadził go z salonu, wyjechaliśmy na ulicę i…. zresztą zobaczcie sami:
Pomyślnie zakończone negocjacje, dokumenty podpisane, czas wracać na lotnisko. Świetny dzień spędzony w wyśmienitym towarzystwie, pomiędzy wyjątkowymi autami i „car talk” z prawdziwym pasjonatem.
Przed każdym wyjazdem zastanawiam się kogo spotkam tym razem, jakie auta napotkam i jaką ciekawą historię usłyszę. Tym razem było ich naprawde wiele.[:en]Being in the classic cars business is very exciting for couple reasons. Every gear head likes being around nice cars, but for it means much more. Cars alone are very exciting, no doubt about it, but meeting their owners and listening to their car stories is sometimes even better. This last weekend was definitely special for both reasons. I went to check out a really nice car, a 1968 Corvette convertible with a big block 427. Before the trip, I spend quite some time talking to Ken, asking about the numbers, getting pictures of the specific elements etc. Ken seemed to be very easy to work with and I was looking forward to meeting him in person. When I arrived at the given address I immediately noticed couple other cars I will need to check out. Ken is a dealer and he had few nice cars on his showroom. Corvette was sitting right in the middle of them. Before we even started talking about the car he gave me a tour talking about all the cars he had for sale and projects he was working on. Every car had a great story and Ken took time to show me all the details that made those cars special. He definitely enjoys his job. Who wouldn’t.
Like in many classic car dealerships, there was a couple of nice decorations. But contrary to most of them, there wasn’t too many of them, which was giving the showroom a really nice taste.
After a detailed inspection of the car, decoding the numbers and going through the documents, it was time for a test drive. Corvette handled very well and had plenty of power, which Ken wasn’t hesitant to use.
When we got back I made a quick phone call to the new owner with a detailed description and we were ready for negotiations. Before I started Ken asked me: “Which of the other cars do you like the most?” It was a difficult choice, but after a moment I decided it was a restomod Camaro.
Ken said: “Let’s take it for a ride then.. If you have some time?” I answered: “Are you kidding? Time for a ride in a nice Camaro? Always!” He took the Camaro off the showroom floor I jumped in, and….. just check this out on your own…
We came back, successfully finished negotiation, signed the documents and sealed the deal. Another great day spent with nice cars, and “car talk” all day long. Every time I go to inspect the car, I wonder who will I meet this time and what story will I hear. This time it was couple of them![:de]Der Oldtimermarkt ist sehr spezifisch aus mehreren Gründen. Interessante Autos, interessante Menschen und interessante Geschichten. Autos sind selbst sehr spannend aber manchmal ist sogar besser ihre Besitzer zu treffen und Geschichte des Autos zu hören. Ich flog eine Inspektion von einer schöne Corvette aus 1968 Jahr mit dem 427 Motor (big block) durchführen.
Vor der Abreise habe ich oft mit dem Verkäufer telefoniert damit ihm nach Details und Nummern etc. ausfragen. Der Ken war sehr hilfsbereit und hatte große Kenntnisse. Als ich zum angegebene Adresse kam und machte er die Türe auf, ich wusste, dass es ein interessanter Tag wird und auf einen Corvette sich nicht beendet. Bevor wir über den Wagen gesprochen haben, der Ken erzählte mir alles über seine anderen Projekte und zeigte mir die Ausstellung. Es hat alles auf mich einen guten Eindruck gemacht.
In vielen Salons hängen zu viele Schilder, Nummernschilder, Banner usw. Hier war es anders, gab es nicht viel, gerade richtig um den ganzen Ort einen guten Geschmack zu geben.
Nach einer gründlichen Inspektion und nach der Überprüfung der Zahlen und Dokumentation hatten wir eine Probefahrt. Corvette fuhr sehr gut. Sehr gute Leistung, er zögerte nicht, Gas zu geben. Unten ein kurzes Video:
Nach der Rückkehr habe ich an den neuen Eigentümer angerufen und sagte ihm die genaue Beschreibung des Autos und den technischen Zustand. Wir waren zu verhandeln bereit. Bevor ich angefangen habe, Ken fragte mich welches Auto mir am besten gefällt. Ich wählte den schwarzen restomod Camaro
und nach einer Weile hörte ich: „ Wenn du Zeit hast, können wir eine Runde machen“ „mit dem Camaro? Immer!“ antwortete ich. Ken herausfuhr von dem Salon und… Schaut ihr selbst an:
Die Verhandlungen wurden erfolgreich abgeschlossen, die Dokumente unterschrieben. Die höchste Zeit zurück zum Flughafen zu fahren. Es war ein schöner Tag, verbracht in bester Gesellschaft. Vor jeder Reise überlege ich immer wem ich diesmal treffe, auf welche Autos ich stoße und welche Geschichte hören werde. In diesem Fall gab es wirklich eine Menge.[:]
